Heres today's Random Toy Post. A few of my friends were raving about this figure in the forum. I generally try to stay away from anything Macross as I feel its a endless money guzzling black hole which one can never crawl out of :) But I do find this figure rather nice..and definitely SEXY :)

From the series Minamike comes a Nendoroid of the expressionless, slow-going third daughter of the Minami family, 'Chiaki Minami'.
Chiaki comes with -3 interchangable faces :half-awake' face, 'realistic' face and embarrassed face -Accessories include: school bag, school hat and teddy bear 'Fujioka'
Chiaki comes nicely sculpted with usual nendoroid cuteness. I especially like the embarrassed face which effectively ups the moe factor of the figure by 10 :) Nice touch to include a base for the teddy bear.
A good addition to the nendoroid collection and a must have for Minamike fans.

The tsundere from Lucky Star is back again in Figma form, this time in her summer uniform.
Kagami comes with * Various hand parts including new hands such as a hand for holding items and a 'thumbs-up' hand. * Three face parts: smiling face, an angry face as well a blank face with stickers, allowing you to make your own expression. * Head parts for her classmate Misao Kusakabe are also included.
I personally don't really go for all these different uniform versions if the "style" of the figure itself is the same. Just another wallet burning way if one is to collect all the various types of the same character that is out there. Completist and hardcore fans will argue otherwise but thats just me :) The blank face with stickers is a nice touch though although not enough to push me over the edge to get one.
GSC has annouced figmas of Fate/Stay Night's Shirou Emiya and Saber in casual clothes. Shirou Emiya comes with * Two face parts:a normal face and a grinning face. * The twin blades, Kanshou and Bakuya * Berserker's axe-blade and Archer's left arm * A poseable figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.
Saber comes with * Hand parts which allow Saber to hold chopsticks, and a rice bowl in various ways, along with other hand parts. * Three face parts:a smiling face, an upset face and a meditating face * A fencing bamboo sword as well as additional lower body parts to allow her to sit on her knees are also included.
Fate Stay Night Fans (like myself) will definitely be happy to have Shirou which was always lacking in the figma line. The casual clothes for Shirou is fine since thats what he wears throughout the anime series anyway. Saber is also welcomed and I especially like the additional legs which allow her to sit on her knees in traditional japanese style.
All in all, a must have for Fate Stay Night fans. :)
Hopefully they will make Archer next, which is highly likely since they included a extra left arm in Shirou this round.
You can get both Shirou and Fate from PlayAsia. They ship internationally and offer free shipping to singapore.

Daiki Kougyou is going to release the Real Arrange 003 Saber ( セイバー ) 1/4 PVC figure from one of my favorite animes, Fate Stay Night .
This huge Saber is scheduled to be released in Nov 09. And when I say Huge , i mean HUGE. At 1/4 scale, this figure stands at a towering 37.5cm. Saber comes holding Caliburn in her right hand. A pity they didn't include Excalibur nor the sheath. (Hey for 27,000 Yen I expect they throw in a couple more accessories too.... :P )
From the pics, I see exquisite detailing and very nice shading on the the figure. Fine details can be seen in the hair , etching on Caliburn. And the shading on the armor is really top notch, really giving that metallic feel.
Now one to the major gripes I have about the figure.. and they are real doozies. The pose does seem a little bit funny though. With her head tilted down like that and tummy jutting out , the pose just seems un-natural to me.
Overall, not a bad figure in the terms of detailing BUT i definitely would not be shelling out 400 plus bucks for this with the faults I had pointed out even if it is a huge 1/4 scale.
I guess this would come as no surprise since there were prototypes shown at various events, so GSC has officially announced the Yui Hirasawa nendoroid from the hit anime K-ON.
The nendo comes with the standard 3 interchangeable faces : a smiling face, crying face and determined face. Her guitar and an amp is also included accessories.
I won't talk much about this nendo. If you are a fan of K-On you would be getting it anyway, and if you are a general collector you just have to see if you want a guitar player japanese schoolgirl to add to your nendo collection :) ♪

GSC has announced the release of both a nendoroid and PVC figure of Canaan from the Canaan anime series. The nendoroid is scheduled to be released 1 month before the PVC figure in Dec 09.
The nendoroid version is nice, combining the usual effect of super deformed cuteness with kind of action hero quality. The nendo comes with 3 interchangable faces -a distant bland expression -a shouting/angry heat of battle expression -a mona lisa half smile expression. Interesting to add that the Nendoroid can take the same signature action pose as the PVC figure which I thought was a really nice touch. Seldom do you get Nendoroids being able to take "dynamic action" poses. I just hope the support system is strong enough to support the Big head that nendos are famous for :)
I like the colors and the dynamism of the figure. The cape is a nice touch and the facial expression is appropriate and well sculpted. The one thing I don't like is the "scenic diorama" base. I don't know, it just seems dated and cheesy to me. I would take a nice clear base anyday. Personal preference.
Overall, both are really great figures to add to your collection. I will definitely be going for the Nendo while the PVC figure I am still considering.
